Severn Studio Objectives & Goals
PREMISES/LOCATION - The Studio is located in a central location within walking distance of all schools and town centre in St Helens Road Abergavenny. It has an
open plan room with kitchen & toilet facility on the lower level.
Studio Goals -
To introduce people of all ages to live music performance and to gain access to
various instruments without the intimidation of one on one teaching with sheet
music to begin with.
Pre grade preparation, Confidence building for live performance,
Vocal training i.e. breathing/pitching/performance,
Drums - Fundamentals, General Timing, training to click/introduction to drum track musical backing
with click, Introduction to Bass & Guitar -from learning basics such as tuning the instrument onwards, Introduction to PA systems and Live sound mixing desks from
set up to performance,
Music industry awareness.
One on one or workshops for people who prefer a different approach to teaching.
i.e. for younger pupils a workshop approach can be taken, allowing more than one
pupil at a time encouraging a fun aspect allowing the students to learn and develop together.
This could mean a bass player and drummer for example.
song writers can also work on own compositions if requested and develop
accordingly at their own pace.
The sessions will begin with introduction to the instrument of your choice then confidence building onto performance practice and Live performing delivery.
Primary goal at early stage will be making pupils feel at ease as from my own experience and many others sheet music in the early stages can be a scary and
boring process. Some of the most successful artistes in the music industry are
non-reading musicians i.e. Phil Collins (Genesis), Paul McCartney (The Beatles).
There are no limits to how far you can go! Give it a try!

Sessions for children start at £10 per half hour.
Adults £15 per hour
